About the Authors...

Erik Hoekstra

Author of the Year 12, 2 Unit Advanced HSC book.

Erik started teaching Mathematics in 1973, working predominantly in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. He was appointed Mathematics Coordinator at St Dominic’s College, Penrith in 1983 and at McCarthy Catholic Senior High, Emu Plains in 1986.

He also spent four years as Head of Mathematics at Matevulu College in Vanuatu, where he taught IGCSE and PSSC Mathematics and was involved in Teacher Training. After returning to Australia, he was for many years the Mathematics Coordinator at St Paul’s College in Manly.

He has been involved in setting exams for the CSSA Trial HSC and is also a marker for the NSW HSC. For the last 2 years he has been the Deputy Principal at Gilroy College.

Erik has an MA (Applied Mathematics) and a Bachelor of Science from Sydney University and Diploma of Education from Mitchell College. Bathurst.
