The National Curriculum is based on three (3) broad major strands called NUMBER, SPACE & MEASUREMENT. These are then divided into the 19 sub-strands listed above.

Once again, this book closely follows the latest NSW and National Curriculum recommendations. At the end of each sub-strand there is a detailed assessment summary of what students should be able to understand by the end of that particular sub-strand, as well as three exercises which are graded from Easy through to More Difficult with all solutions given. Throughout each strand there are numerous examples and activities relating to problem solving – but in addition a separate chapter has been added which explains in detail the most common strategies involved in problem solving for this age group.

Note: This is also an excellent resource book for parents, because it will provide them with an important overview of the complete curriculum. In addition, it will show them those sub-strands where extra work is required.
